My version of a Grill Block

So I've been busy posting How-to's and such on here and had a chance to take an updated picture of the front of my VX. Just thought I'd share it with you all:

What you see here is a Coroplast block sitting underneath an aluminum mesh grill insert. The angle of the picture makes it so you can easily see through the mesh insert, but from a standing viewpoint you cannot see the coroplast. the cool part was that I got that insert for free. It was originally meant for an 03-05 Eclipse, but some slight trimming took care of that. I think it gives a nice finished look to the middle grill area.

I also have installed a set of Denji headlights as well as some clear corner lights. The headlights are projector lights with a nice separate High Beam light. The light output is great from these lights! I'm happy I made the swap.

Feel free to comment and ask questions.

I'm going to bed now as I've been on the computer for about 3 hours now doing my DIYs and such.

Very clean looking. Please do update on how well it performs for you. That wouldn't happen to be a carbon fiber hood, would it? Anyway, for a 1994 car that has probably seen a lot of miles, that car is in good shape. It looks like you still have a lot of potential in it, as you have just broken 50. Keep it up man!

The Coroplast part of that block has been on there for a long time (almost 12 months now). The mesh part was a recent addition to cover the Coroplast.

Thanks for the remark, the car is actually dirty right now, lol.

Yes, that is a Carbon Fiber hood, a very beaten up one, but it only weighs 11lbs.

As far as the potential, there is a lot there...my 90 day averages during the warmer months are usually in the 52MPG range, but the temps have dropped and I have a slipping clutch, and the front wheel bearings need replacement as they are really slowing me down now. They do have over 330,000 miles on them though, so I'll cut them some slack, lol.

I love the hood as well. I just wish I could justify dropping $80 on some Aero Catch Hood Pins.

But I doubt that the consequence of the hood pins I have now is that much.

Just thought I'd throw up the next update to my front end:

You can also see my partial belly pan.

Pay no attention to the Autocross slicks on the car. This was taken on a day that I went auto-crossing.

Basically just new one piece headlights made by TYC on the car.

Side skirts I made and deleted passenger side mirror:

I'll have to get a picture of the new front lip as well.
