youtube vids are awesome things (and so are physics books)

****edit****

a few of my favorite youtube vids (fake)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1rRvExSuCc

fun with magnetrons and editing software
at least it is good for a laugh
(as are other vids in this thread)

What usually happens with these magnetic motors is the force the magnets exert making them move is equal to the force needed to reposition the magnet or magnetic shield to block the attraction to keep them moving so there is no net gain in motion. The best thing that comes out of it is you end up with some sort of magnetic bearing that reduces the friction which makes it spin easily. Another thing that happens in the case of Pulse Motors is the meters that are being used to measure the energy into the system are not accurately measuring the quick pulses of current and voltage so it "looks" like it takes very little energy put into the motor to get some energy out of it but in fact it is taking in a lot more than is measured.

The thing is that the cell phone popcorn is a well-known hoax. What is done is the magnetron is removed from a microwave oven and installed under the table. When the magnetron is activated, the corn pops.

the good thing is that with an energized magnetron that close to their family jewels, we won't have to worry about the next generation.

LOL!! I remember my first good idea...replacing the spark plugs in a car engine with springs....I was about seven years old at the time...my sister's first husband (a mechanic) tried to explain the law of conservation of energy, a.k.a. "no free lunch" to me.
