LA Alternative Car Show Pix ...

Hello -

My wife and I went to the alternative car show in LA today :

http://altcarexpo.com/index.html

Jory Squibb was there in his Moonbeam!

Here's a video of Jory at the show :

http://autos.netscape.com/story/2006...n-santa-monica

The "Electric Car Company" (http://www.ecarco.com/) was there in a big way :

Zenn Car (30-40 mile range, 25 MPH max) :

Ragtop Zenn!

Dynasty It :

100% Solar Car :

Righteous Blackout Racing Disk Prius :

Electric "Miles" car :

$66,000 Super Electric :

Phoenix All Electric Motorcars (http://66.218.37.153/index.htm) uses "Altairnano" batteries (http://www.altairnano.com) :

Biodiesel Coop :

Lots of Prius for sale :

100 MPG Plug-In Prius :

NGV Honda Civic :

The hangar/showroom was small, but that gave it a more intimate and successful feeling for a first year show.

Anyone else thought of building a microcar type vehicle like Mr Squibb and his Moonbeam?
The thought has crossed my mind more than a few times. I drive a motorcycle to work for the most part, so driving a tiny vehicle like that would not discourage me, and driving a purpose built commuter for all weather seems like a good way to go for 95% of my driving.

I'm building a mini based three wheeler that will have a metro 3 cylinder engine and transmission.

He's using an old Mini as the shell - narrowing it & making it RWD. Pretty intensive build.

Thanks for the link. Funny that he is using a Mini. I am currently rebuilding one myself. Just put the outer sill on the right side in last weekend. Inner sill and rear floorpan get work this weekend.
When its done, I may start a microcar from scratch.
