I heard the phrase recently:
"Don't tell me what you believe. Tell me how you spend your money and I'll tell you what you believe."

Something of a generalization, and some expenditures we don't have much control over, but you get the point.

All of our decisions (including financial) are based on our moral world view. So our wallets are a good indication of our priorities. Even not having a budget means that in this particular instance you value having what you want over getting good value or perhaps value your time and effort (in not having to keep to a budget) over your back pocket. That said, as much as it is a moral document it doesn't mean that we should use people's budgets to put them into boxes; that would be immoral =P
