when i first heard him say that, i thought it was a little radical. now, w/ so many uninformed voters, i tend to agree.

As for the government forcing bad loans, I wouldn't mind a short explanation of what they did so I know what I'm looking for. The only thing I can think of is that they allowed the bad loans, and by doing so caused banks to need to do it to stay competitive.

I'm not saying they weren't forced, but I have yet to see anybody post a legitimate reference to back up that allegation.

Well I think it's interesting that majority of loans that are in default are in fact NOT HUD loans. Nor were they caused by forcing lenders to lend to ill-qualified applicants. NOBODY told them they had to write loans that would jump to rates borrowers could not afford, nor to take on stated income loans.
Mark Levin ranting and making accusations in general terms doesn't cut it. The fact is, the failing banks were careless, and the only people who 'forced' them into being careless were their own executives and securities traders. The failed to exericise due dilligence in assuring that they were writing or purchasing notes that were as good as they thought they were.

Do you believe that government is an innocent bystander, with nothing to do with any of this?

I say that if any bank is forced to even consider having to make a loan just because it is to a poor person or person of a given race, that is a crime.
The bank's ONLY criteria should be about the creditworthiness of the borrower, and the value of the asset being used as collateral. But thanks to "affirmative action" and "a home for every american" BS, banks have to make the politicians happy.

That's an interesting point. I'd like to see some statistics on how many loans were influenced by "affirmative action"-like programs, and how many failed (expressed as percentage of total loans and percentage of failed loans).

a hybrid design eh? now if you privately made them and sold them then i could see somehtign happening (like design your own frame, etc or you may have already)
i know in IL as long as it passes all vehicle codes it can be registered and licensed as either a homemade car or if you used a frame off an existing car that's what it is or they go by engine sometimes. theres a younger guy in my town that didnt have much money and converted a dune buggy frame(not the old VW ones the sandrail steel pipe kind)/engine and put all the stuff on it to make it street legal on it and drives it around.
hmm submitting it to companies they could make prototypes but then WHAMO damn federal regulations come into play and is all effed up, not to mention the crash ratings. kinda dumb that we still test and MUST PASS front crash test at 30 mph with an UNBUCKLED front passenger and they have to live! dont most states have seatbelt laws anyways? isnt it your free right to wear a belt or not? (wear belt = live; dont wear it = thru windshield) not that hard to figure out...
i swear we need darwinism around more, if your dumb enough to do it let happen that shall happen.
lol my rant for the day...
