I guess you're right...but I don't remember anyone using the word "sesquicentennial" during 2000 (which was the sesquicentennial celebration of California's statehood). In fact, it's pretty danged rare to get a chance to use the word "sesquicentennial" in a sentence at all! And I think this is the first time I've ever used it twice in a sentence!
