I love how much they put that thing through. Can't wait to get my 6th Astro next year, it's going to get race prepped for the 24 Hours of Lemons and a bit of this hoonage driving.
Lemons! I did Lemons last year at Altamont. It was soo much fun!
I'm wearing the T shirt right now.
The best way to get into Lemons is to have a wacky theme.
I have an idea for you: Paint your van like an ice cream truck! Cut a window in the side and bolt on a shelf outside the window for more realism. Maybe paint the roll cage with orange and white stips like a barber shop pole and hang a kiddie swing off it and tell the safety inspectors 'yeah it's totally safe, we used the highest quality steel tubes when we built the cage'

Hey DRW (and anyone else with related experience), is there a way to get into a little bit of amateur racing that doesn't cost anything? e.g. Are there racing groups that need more drivers? (It seems to me like drivers would be easy to come by, but what do I know?)
I don't know anyone in my area that does this kind of thing, or I would ask a local. Have any links for me?
I've been in contact with the LeMons guys already, making sure they'd let an Astro run. Turns out one of them has a thing for Astros too and they're all for one racing.
I'm doing The A-Team with Grumpy for next year's BA/BE Rally.
Here's a couple other themes I worked up.
Cannonball Run Ambulance
Mooby's Restaurant van.
Cool, just found pics of the van from the move "Chevy Van"
