Unhappy Fallen Firefighters

I work at a fire station in SC. Last night Charleston FD lost 9 fireman in one fire. Two of these men worked for me at my station on their days off from the city of charleston. Please keep them and their families in your heart and prayers.

William

Thank you for your service. May God bless you all in this terrible time. We are blessed to have our firemen always ready to protect us.

Our sincere condolences.

Sorry for the loss of your co-workers.

Honestly, I hope that we in the US can at least have one positive outlook on this situation and learn from this incident.

The study of the science of fire prevention and fighting in the US has a few disasters in its past, that make changes to codes. Even simple fire protection systems such as sprinklers could have possibly prevented such loss of life. Granted, the current version of NFPA 101 is a great code, when it comes to local mandate and enforcement, it is another matter.

It is a shame it takes a situation like this or the Station Nightclub that makes change....

That's terrible. My Uncle was in Rescue 3 in the Bronx during 9-11. He was one of the only survivors. I know what you must be going through. He was a complete emotional wreck for a long time after that and ended up retiring after his job was done at the site.
