Electric powertrains are much easier to engineer than the complexity of an internal combustion engine. Because of that, I predict there will come a "tipping point" where off-the-shelf, electric powertrains will give birth to a lot of boutique vehicle manufacturers. Exhibit "A":
I'm not saying they are bad cars, just not lookers. I thought my ZX estate looked great, but not the hatch. However, i preferred the hatch for the far superior fuel economy. I considered "joke" cars like the Aixam, the terrible look of a car wouldnt stop me from having it.
Here's kinda what I'm talkin' about. KLD is a company that makes/provides OEMs with batteries, controllers, and electric motors. Except my vision is that they would ALSO provide the chassis upon which boutique coach builders can use as their platform.
