Strange? That was a very fine piece of double speak. It is absolutely amazing how the people who spoke out, for Gore's piece of the pie, were able to rationalize and justify his expenses. If he purchased someone else's Carbon foot print, to bring his down to zero, but he spent that much money running his house, what????

Amazing! Seems to really practice what he preach's?

Regardless of whether he practices what he preaches or not, it says little about his message...

I don't know. If the guy doesn't believe his own message enough to practice a little bit of moderation, how much does he believe his message. If he doesn't believe it, then it seems to me it begs the question of the message, it's credibility and the fact he's asking other people to lower the carbon foot print, but he is not doing so, either because he has money, or otherwise.

On a related note, anyone identify the vehicle he was driving in the scenes where he visits the Gore homestead?

I agree. In fact, by making that movie, he has probably caused a much bigger change for the better than if he personally stopped consuming enregy altogether. But I'm just guessing. I'll be watching to see who ends up pulling the 'hypocrite' card for political gain.

Anyone who would try and derail the message that the earth needs our help is a monster, or really really stupid.

It is an ENTIRELY political move based on the timing, and a quite evil one at that, just try telling me otherwise.

DEFEND THE EARTH OR DEFEND THOSE JERKS, CHOOSE NOW!!!

That's all I'm saying.

Actually, what if he's really a horrible monster but everyone cuts him slack because they all think he's just really, really nucular stupid?

I think that scrutiny of energy use of public figures is going to increase dramatically in the future, and this will cause them to think more carefully about what they do.

Regardless of whether they change consumption habits out of genuine concern for the issues, or simply to avoid the bad "optics" of not changing, it doesn't really matter because the end result is the same.

In the bigger picture of setting the example for the public, that would be true, even if all they end up changing is what we see.
