So I checked it out. Visually it looked great, but the the womans husband had the keys so I couldn't test drive. Did get the VIN and ran a check. Apparently its been flagged as Junk 3 times by the DMV. All told, I'm gonna pass on this one.

You guys are way too willing to overpay for a vehicle.
Perhaps I just come from an extraordinarly resourceful family, but my grandpa has got cars far cheaper than that. He just recently got a Dodge Intrepid in great condition for $60. Right now the only problem it has is it wont go in reverse, but aside from that it drives perfectly. Only a bit over 100k miles too.
We got a free metro from the junkyard. Before that we bought two Festiva's for $50 and swapped around parts between the two to get one of them to run.
$2000 for a car with over 200k miles? I'll pass.

You live in a part of the country where it seems like people are willing to throw away cars like they're nothing. I know that's not true here, and a civic hx in CA is worth a heck of a lot more than it would be most other places.
Consider where everyone lives before telling them that they overpay for cars. It's like telling someone in silicon valley they are overpaying for their house. Well, that's how much it is there. My gramma's farm in MO isn't worth 1k and acre but in tokyo an acre might be worth 1000k. Same goes for cars.

Hey I'd love to find an area where I can pick up cars for under $100 bucks but thats a rare event out here. Found another one that seems to be in better condition debating checking it out.
