You can't transport any ethanol fuel via pipe line. It has to be done by truck. Very inefficient. That requires diesel. And we can't loose site of the fact that corn is a food product.
My family was in farming for years. While I support the American farmer, farming needs to be a profitable gig on its own. Ethanol is a subsidy. You can exchange the name subsidy for welfare if you like. There are certainly those that are getting rich beyond oil on this in two ways: one, fuel, and two, because of food commodity prices increasing dramatically.
