I have a couple of vehicles in my dash board and use the trip meter mileage to log in Fuelly.
However I have just added a older motorcycle that only has an odometer. As it is new to me and not filled yet. I'll go to the gas station and fill the tank. Note the odometer reading. How do I set the start mileage so that future fill ups are calculated correctly?
I don't use that method, but is there not an "initial fill" box to check? If not, you just take note of the odometer reading and the fuel you just put in. Example: bike has 25150 miles on. You start with a full tank and drive 150 miles, and fill up again. The odometer now reads 25300 so you enter that and the fuel you just put in the tank to get the calculation.
Just use the odometer method, and enter that first fill up with the odometer reading. There won't be any reported MPG with it, but the system will use this entry to calculate the tanks miles for the second fill up.
I haven't tried the odometer method in some time. There wasn't an initial fill button originally. It probably keeps this first fill from being counted as a tank for the extended records. IIRC, the first tank was counted as 1 even though there wasn't any MPG data produced. The initial fill button would just tell the program to count that fill as 0.
I only ever use the Odometer method, and as said, you label the first fill up as Initial fill, and the next time you fill up, it gives you an mpg figure, and off you go.
