Hey all!
With us getting near the finish line with GasCubby 3.0 beta testing we've recently had to overhaul how reminders work on Fuelly.com to better match how we want them to look and feel in the mobile apps.
Up until now, reminders on Fuelly.com worked by counting down and automatically resetting once the timer has hit zero. So if you had an oil change reminder every 5k miles, whether you changed your oil or not, after you added a fuel up and passed that 5k mile threshold from your last reminder, it'll auto-reset and start the clock for the next reminder. Relatively inefficient but thankfully, we've updated them!
All reminders will now require a Service Type be selected. Ex: "Oil Change". Now, in order to reset the reminder, you must log a service entry of an "Oil Change" before the reminder is reset to notify you again (in 5k miles for example). For more accurate tracking, distance based reminders (let's continue using the Oil Change at 5k mile intervals) you'll be required to enter an odometer value. Users who track their fuel data via Odometer will not notice any issues here. Users who currently track via Trip Meter will need to switch over to Odometer tracking (this can be done by simply Editing the vehicle and changing tracking method) in order to add/edit distance based reminders.
Time based reminders will see no change in how they function (ex: Oil Change every 3 months).
We've also improved the display of your Upcoming/Overdue reminders in your vehicle profile-
Also, you'll immediately see overdue reminders for all your vehicles when you log into your Dashboard-
Emails will still be sent out as they were before but our mobile app users (GasTracker and GasCubby Beta) will see notifications as well.
Any questions/comments/concerns please post in this thread so we can discuss!
