UK units vs US units problems?

I keep track of every drip of fuel and every inch I travel the old fashioned way (well semi old fashioned, spreadsheet)
I am an English user, so I convert my litres by 4.55 to get my UK MPG, right?
Well the only time Fuelly reflects these figures correctly is when I set US units,if I set UK units my MPG goes from 73 to 88 which is wrong.
Whats going on here please, am I missing something?
Richie.

It sounds like you're doing some sort of conversion before entering your fuel-up numbers that you don't need to. You should be able to enter the numbers you get at the pump.

Looks like you're tracking via tripometer readings. Are you tracking in kilometers or miles?

I only input the pump numbers into Fuelly, I do my own conversions alongside.

I record in miles.

ok, sounds like the problem is in your conversions. Take your latest fuel-up and try entering the numbers at this calculator.

Looks like you put in around 19 litres and you drove 360 miles. That gives me around 86 MPG--which is what Fuelly is showing for your latest fuel-up when the site is set to UK units.

By the way, I find Google very handy for doing unit conversions. For example, here's 19 litres in Imperial Gallons. Google does the math and shows the numbers at the top of the page.

Did it with the calculator and it came out the same as Fuelly says 71.4 mpg.

Heres the stats, 22.92 litres of petrol, at 111.9p, 360 miles covered.

Which fuel-up are you calculating? I don't see a fuel-up on Fuelly that has 22.92 litres of petrol. I'm looking at your fuel-up log, and I see a fuel-up on August 22 with 19.1 litres and 360 miles. Do you see the same numbers? Are those numbers correct?

Are those the numbers that you see on this site when you visit this page?

No.

I have already got that link you sent at 12:18 pm.

I just don't understand how setting to UK units makes my mpg into the 80s, when I know from doing the maths that its 70s.

Heres a few of my stats to prove that I get approx 70 mpg.

1, 32.66LITRES, 494 MILES 68.80MPG

2, 27.34LITRES, 427MILES, 71.05MPG

3, 22.09LITRES, 357MILES, 73.61MPG
