twitter integration?

will it be possible to incorporate twitter in order to fuel up? It might be a little complex, but you could make something like this:

d fuelly 1 a342.2 b10.3 c2.299

and it would fuel up car #1 with a) 342.2 miles b) 10.3 gallons and c) $2.299/gallon. You could do the same with 2 for car #2.

It would come down to just memorizing what to put into the text message. While an iPhone app is great, not all of us have smartphones and some people rely heavily on texting.

Yep, we've been planning this from the beginning but we've hit some hurdles along the way. Getting your Fuelly account associated with your Twitter account is a painful multi-step process, and we've been trying to come up with an easier way. And coming up with a good message format and how to handle errors (ignore the message if it's formatted wrong?, send a direct message back asking for a corrected version?, etc) is another issue we're thinking about.

This is in the works, we're just trying to find the most efficient and error-free way for it to happen.

Oh, this seems as good a place as any to mention that if you want to go the other direction and add your fuel-ups to twitter, I saw someone doing that the other day. They added their Fuelly fuel-up feed to TwitterFeed. Then it auto-posts every fuel-up to Twitter for them.

Have you ever used Brightkite's sms interface? Something similar would probably work well for Fuelly.

I figured it was something that was challenging about twitter, but it's good to know that you guys are working on it. Thanks!
