Reminders only available using odometer, not trip mileage

What is the reasoning behind removing the option to set reminders using Trip Miles? Isn't it easy enough for Fuelly to keep a running total (similar to an odometer) behind the scenes?
I really like entering data using Trip Miles. Is there a way for me to enter mileage with Trip Data and use Reminders?

I'm not sure what the reasoning on why the trip mileage isn't tallied and used when tracking reminders by mileage when using Trip Distance. I will ask to see if we can get this added.
