indeed, can't wait for the speed increase.
I might be playing detective a bit before going live to determine exactly what is causing the speed problem. I am going to try to remove as much stuff as possible to clear up memory and whatnot on the new server.

I'm certain the culprit is something simple. Hopefully it is just the server and nothing more.

initial test of new server

initial test of new server is very good.

YOu can look yourself here: http://208.131.131.49/

I need to iron out a few bugs, but I hope to make the switch tonight.

Please refrain from posting on the mirror site until it's up and running. When i switch over I will backup all of the info on this site and move it over.

Woah.

Wow Matt that new server is sick!!! Talk about instant gratification! I did not think the speedup would be this great. I'm impressed. average 6 second cut off page load time now.
You did a helluva job locating a faster server.
*claps* & much thanks and appreciation!

wow - quite impressive. not

wow - quite impressive speed on the new site. not to be a sourpuss, but hopefully it's not just because the test site isn't under any load yet.

I hope you're right, but considering how much load this site is under it shouldn't be a problem. I have a friend who uses tektonic (what this site is currently on) and has a lot of the same problems. He has over 1000 members and much more activity and has no problems on his new server.

I've also reduced the running programs a lot on the new server, only leaving what we really need.
