Motocycle Data
We purchased a database of car makes/models, but it doesn't include motorcycles. I can't see any reason not to include motorcycles, but we'll have to find that data.

Matt mentioned scraping data in another thread..if you're willing to do that for data (i looked briefly and found nothing for purchase or in a db format), the easiest place to get pretty complete motorcycle listings would likely be kbb.com. It's not ideal, but it's in a pretty sane URL format and layout:
http://www.kbb.com/kbb/Motorcycles/Trade-In.aspx
With year, make, model, and displacement you'd have enough data to track and compare.

Thanks for the pointer. Took a quick look and it feels like wrangling that data into our current car format would be quite a task. Between this and the EPA mileage project I'm going to be busy for a while.
My guess is that motorcycle data will get a someday priority instead of a before we launch priority.

I guess if we just did an Other catch-all for motorcycles and scooters, we'd lose any/all of the social comparison aspects of the data, since the data wouldn't be structured.

We could let people add their own make/model/body style/engine to the database. It'd be like tags, lots of differences in the data. But probably enough overlap that you could do some comparison.
Or maybe all self-make/modelers could have a different system of comparison. Hmm.
With a generic system like that you could add planes, industrial equipment, lawnmowers; anything that consumes fuel.

I recently got a scooter and would love to be able to pit it against my Hyundai. Sadly, not even the Kelley database has my particular scooter (a 2007 Piaggio MP3 250). I'd like to see an "Other" option even if it meant I missed out on the "social comparison aspects."

i'd love to add my motorcycles. i barely ever drive during the summer. one additional problem is that all of my bikes are older than '78, and that can get to be a problem. i like that tags idea.

I agree with Eideteker, I'm willing to help if I can. One thing I suggested in another thread was the option for the user to add a vehicle (with specs, etc) , with a link to proof that it exists to make your jobs easier.

If I posted my Motorcycle under a car would that just totally mess up your comparison stats?
