miscalculating MPG on latest fuel-up

I use odometer reading and can't seem to get the correct MPG to calculate on my most recent fuel-up. The odometer reading on my prior fuel-up was 76537 and the reading on my latest fuel up of 11.853 gallons was 76814 (277 miles). My "Log Book" indicates that I only traveled 33 miles for 2.78 MPG.

Based on the calculated elapsed miles, I found that if I edit the last entry to 76780, I get 243 miles (20.5 MPG). If I add 1 more mile and enter 76781 miles, I get no MPG (– miles). If I add another mile with 76782 miles, I get 1 mile (0.1 MPG).

After spending all of this time troubleshooting, I'm just going to log it as a missed entry instead of having a 2.8 MPG pull down my average. I don't really want to export and reenter almost 300 entries to discover that I still see the same issue. I also don't want to switch to trip miles after using odometer from the beginning. Searching the forums, I see some similar issues, but no solutions.

First, I would look very closely at the entered numbers to ensure that you didn't transpose a couple of digits in one of the fuel entries for the odometer.

Second, look for "other" log entries that have made their way in between the two you're focused on.

Third, you can export the entire history of the entries and import (most of?) them back in the same way to reduce any data loss... You could also export everything and import the fuel fill-up's into a 'new' vehicle to muck around with...
