Is the MPG average 'weighted'?

Does 43 mpg(for example) have the same 'power' to the average mpg over more miles? To explain, Say I got 43 mpg for just 100 miles of driving. Would that affect the avg mpg the same as getting 43 mpg for 300 miles in the same(1) fill up?

Your average MPG is your actual mpg. It is your total miles traveled divided by your total gallons added. A 300-mile tank will have more weight than a 100-mile tank.

Yep, the average isn't compounding all your fuel up averages equally, we simply take total distance ever recorded in our system and divide it by total fuel by volume to get a real overall average.

It doesn't change much after you have about 10 fuel-ups, so we are talking about including new stats like "avg of last 10 fuel ups" to be prominently displayed.

I was curious about this too, and I like the idea of a rolling average so I can see how recent changes are affecting my MPG.

Could I suggest giving an option of rolling x days or x fuel ups? As for me I'd be more interested to see how my last month of driving has been, not necessarily a set number of fuel ups.

Good to know. I was wondering that myself.

@vr4Legacy

You can track rolling averages by clicking on [Customize Mini Stats] in your car profile and changing the time scale.
