Incorrect mileage calculation?
Morning all. I've fine a fill up this morning, and altho the odometer reading is correct, and the previous odo reading is correct, fuelly reckons that I've only done 40 miles since my last fuel up. Despite the difference between the two readings is nearly 300 miles. What have I done wrong? I've definitely done more than 7mpg!
I can't post a link cos I'm writing this on my phone, but its my least fuel up on ' Impian'. :s

Looks like your odometer reading on March 25 is out of sequence. If you fix that up you should be set.

Yep. Those dodgy Tesco pumps are to blame. LOL
Yeah you inputted a 97,912 entry there, but the next entry on the 26th was for 97,373. So that is what's messing you up. Maybe you meant to add something like 97,219? Easy to get numbers backwards.

And another thing, when filling the vehicle, I never stop with the pump "pops". I will continue, even if I have to go a bit slower to make sure I get it full, just because of that. There are a couple of stations I visit that pop early or just like to pop whenever, so to avoid it, I will fill it slower or just pull the nozzle back a bit (so it isn't all the way in) and that will also make it work better.
You still need to keep an eye on it, and listen and learn to just know how much gas your car typically takes. I mean if I know I'm say half a tank empty in my van, I know it takes roughly 10 US gallons to fill it.
My van as an example, typically IS full when it pops, I might be able to get 1/4 to a 1/2 a gallon more in it if I try. My car on the other hand? I can usually get 1-2 more gallons into it after it pops. So not all cars are the same. Plus the car never pops a pump early, unlike the van that does on occasion. Just a tip that may help, so you don't have so many partial tanks.

Awesome, good spot. I always measure to the first 'pop', which I know isn't they accurate, and is mostly a hangover from my lpg days, where temperature has much more of an effect. I've defeated tesco as well now, holding it upside down sorts it better in the neck so it stops at a sensible level!
Thanks both of you.
