Adding a "new" used car with existing mileage

Hi...
I am trying to add my newly purchased used car, a 2016 CX-5 with 41,750 miles on the ODO. I typically track my mileage by the odometer at each fill-up, so I guess I need to add an accurate starting number. Also, the dealer had provided me with a full tank of gas, so I'll probably be around 42k at MY first fill-up.

Thanks in advance!

I would just wait until the first time you fill it up and use that odometer reading as your "Initial fill" mileage. You don't have to wait until the tank is nearing empty. You could aim to fill it as near to 42K as possible if you wish.

That sounds like a reasonable suggestion, JockoT!
Thanks for the input.
I'll come back if I have any additional questions.
