that looks like it is a cool concept. it seems like the two auto motive batteries would be very heavy to lug around.

Not really. Any speed you loose from the extra weight you gain from better aero. The problem being you would need a larger gear spread to effectively power it, but since bike drivetrains have ~18-24 gears it's not as much of an issue compared to a car.

A nice example of this is on the bike power/speed calculator. Calculate the speed at 160W using a mountain bike, and then a streamlined trike. The difference is huge ime.
