Always liked yellow cars, I especially like the metallic yellow Peugeot offer on the likes of the new 208, and the "speed yellow" Porsche offer too. My mum used to say green was unlucky, but me and two other friends all had yellow cars for our first cars, and all three were crashed within 6 months haha.

My old Volvo was Panama yellow. Didn't like the colour much to begin with but it soon grew on me.

I remember seeing Volvos that color, I think in the 90's maybe.

I've seen one like that, but the paint had faded so bad, it was completely oxidized and had a satin finish.

Isn't fading a common problem for yellow car paints?

I'm no expert, but I think alot depends on the quality of the paint, and whether it has a clear coat on top, and how good the UV resistant properties in that clear coat are. In times gone by, all paint finishes were water based and would oxidise after a few years giving them a satin finish. Modern Cars use a few mil of clear coat which protects the coloured paint from fading/scratches etc.

This is my old Volvo when I sold it. 16 years old and 130,000 miles. Despite the rust, the paintwork was great. Shiny and no fading.

Was that when they were part of the Ford group? Bodywork quality took a hit as soon as ford got involved, the older Volvo's hardly rusted at all.
