THE best car in the world

At least according to some opinions. But don't take the 21's.

We had a chauffeur-driven S-Class for our Renewal of Vows ceremony and it was an incredible machine. I'd have one.

Excellent cars in many ways...until the electronics etc start breaking down after 5 years or so. Then, get ready to open the pocketbook. ;.)

In the old days, the pre 1986 Mercedes diesels were great cars, especially the 240D with a manual transmission. Few problems and good economy.

Yes, I'd hate to have to pay for the repairs on a regular basis.

My brother-in-law -1979 - rumbled east on I-80 in his manual shift 240D. Heading to Reno with 4 of us on board was a noisy, black smoke struggle! Back then I was not a diesel fan..........

After several VW diesels - pickup, Quantum, Rabbit - and - saving the best for last - a 2014 TDI 6M - I get it.

It's all good. My wife really digs her C250 coupe - which gets appreciative looks big time.
(It also calc'd 35 MPG on a 500 mile trip CA to AZ and return - alas using RON 93)

Maybe its her and not the car that gets the looks?

In 1979 in college I had a 1975 911S. My dad, who wasn't in college, had a 1978 25th anniversary Corvette pace car replica. One week I had to drive his car while mine was in the shop for routine maintenance. Nobody ever said anything about my car. The week I drove his I had two girls ask if they could go for a ride and one girl just came up and got in without even asking. In that case it was definitely the car. A C250 coupe is probably not much different than my 911S. It may not be the car.

Back in the '60s, a mate had an MGB Roadster and it was a babe magnet. He replaced it with a Lotus Cortina and his pulling power went downhill. As far as the girls were concerned it was just another saloon!
My daughter had a Jason Plato look-a-like SEAT Leon. Got her plenty of admirers.
