Some of the anti-french brigade will hate the fact that 3 of these are French. I can only agree, my GTi just turned 7 in December. The only issues I've had were on the "British" made brakes which required a rebuild, mainly due to lack of use whilst the car was off the road having paintwork done. Besides that, the most reliable car I've had, and it gets an absolute hammering too...
