Used to be a fun affordable coupe, like with anything with a hint of sportiness from Audi, just became overpriced driven by popularity. Honda are now following in thier footsteps. Still can't believe a Civic is almost £50,000....

They're trying to make cars unaffordable. This way, people are forced to lease, usually on a short term for two/three years. This way, one individual might get through 5 years over a decade, with interest rates and penalty charges for excess mileage. This means more cars being produced too. It's going to be an environmental disaster producing so many cars, we should be encouraging people to keep cars longer and making them easier and more affordable to repair.

There is a right to repair movement in the US. Anything similar over there?

Yea, not sure how it affects the motor industry just yet, mainly focuses on domestic appliances, washing machines, fridges, TVs, phones, etc.

For cars sold in the UK, I believe car manufacturers have to supply spare parts for 15 years after a vehicle goes out of production but they can charge what they like for the parts, hence some of the silly prices quoted for OEM parts.
