Whilst the engine and chassis is more than adequate for that power, I think it's too much in a car this size. Both my cars have the same (ish) power, 270-276 bhp and they're stupidly quick, almost too quick for your average road with your average driver. It's a usable comfortable amount of power, anything over in a car this size is excessive in my honest opinion.
My brother has the '18 Golf R and the power it has is more than enough (God I hate getting old). APR already has a tune out that can take any Golf R to 470 wheel horsepower with not much more money.
