That review is for the plain old ICE version; no plug.
At 3,400 miles, the tires aren't even broken in yet; hopefully they've checked the air pressure in them. Then December to now covers some of the worse weather for fuel economy. Chicago is far from Southern California.
Thanks for pointing that out. My late night dyslexia strikes again!
I don't like seats that go under the floor. The old Sharan got 5 removable seats which is better than the folding ones which still take a lot's of space. The Pacifica would have been better with a range extender motor and the option to remove that motor with future batteries. That's nice.
I am not going to buy a hybrid car. Drive-train, motor and transmission, these are the things that are expensive or more likely will total your otherwise good car some times.
Just having all the air bags go off can be enough to total a car now a days.
The Pacifica is a hybrid, so it already has a range extender engine.
I grew up with an Astrovan conversion, and have Caravans at work. The Stow-n-Go seats are far easier to use than removable ones. Minivans have plenty of space. The little bit extra with removable seats is easily outshined by the ease of use with the Stow-n-Gos for most buyers.
Just as a data point, the Pacifica's best tank ever is worse than my worst tank ever, even with bad traffic, even with cold Canadian winters, even with more short runs than usual. I'm running a 3.0L AWD SUV. The Pacifica's real-world numbers are a put-off to me, and sadly, they don't get close to the marketed numbers, those that prospective customers would hope to get when shopping for a new vehicle.
