I remember my brother, my dad and myself going to a motor auction in my brother's FIAT 500. About 700 lbs passenger weight. The trip started with a climb from sea level to 600ft in about 2 miles. That was a long slow climb!
My fiat 126 had 26 HP, it was terrifying trying to keep up with modern traffic or going up hills, but equally as fun. One I wished I kept, recently saw it for sale again for around 650% more than what I paid...
I had a 126 as well. Brilliant fun to drive. You had to drive it like a heavy truck, taking advantage of downhill sections to build the speed up for the uphill bits. Never found it scary to drive in traffic. I regularly came down off the Forth Road Bridge with the 80 mph speedo "off the clock".
