Where you used those washers for better holding power, you might consider (in future projects) using plates used under membrane roofing to hold down insulation. It's almost the same application. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, all larger than those washers. A friendly roofer (who works on flat roofs, not pitched) or a roofing supply company might be able to provide you with a handful for free.
Reinstalled the old J channels just in case my folded seals don't hold up.
Moved the gas struts from the rear to the middle as this will allow more clearance in the back.
Spliced the rear window halves together and added magnets to keep the window opened when the hatch is open or closed on the tail gate to keep it from flying open while driving.
Got 27.66mpg at 65mph from the Biloxi to College Station segment of the trip. More than enough people slowing down to 65mph just to snap some piccies of the setup (at night even!)
