My grille block and front air dam

I have posted pics of my recent aero projects in my garage please check em out there. I used the front lip off of another 91 740 and flipped it over to make the air dam which I think was genius. The other thing I did was use an old three ring binder backing to create a "stealth" grille block. I though it was funny that when I had it in the shop recently I asked if they noticed that my grille was blocked off and they said they didn't even notice. As a side note my dad hasn't noticed the grille block either yet so that's always good, he'd probably think the cars gonna over heat and blow up or something.

I have a question about grille blocks... How well does everyone's a/c units work with blocked grilles? Does it still get as cold as before? Does it take longer to cool?

Ahhh...I like the three-ring binder idea...I've got a ton of those just taking up space. Of course, anything that blocks airflow to the radiator scares me...but then it's 104 degrees outside right now...

I just did my grill block (and have only about a 6" by 2" opening in the middle) and it runs at perfect temperature even here in Texas right now at 100+ degree temps.

I would not worry at all, also, my car front underside is completley covered so no air is getting through. Again, it runs just fine.

That really is ingenious flipping another factory air dam upside down. I should look into that for the Beast... an airdam for an 88 - 98 GM truck should be pretty cheap at the U-Pull it junkyard...

Thanks for the props guys! and yeah I know that it'll be fine blocked off, but try explaining that to my dad! hah. That's really amazing though all air flow bottom and grille openings blocked in 100' heat and it's still fine! I knew it would work with the grille blocked but that's above and beyond that

Nice job, real clean mod. The airdam looks good, and you can't tell from the picture that the grill is blocked.

The same Volvo air dam also works great on my bmw E30. A lot of bmw guys are using these to replace broken or missing airdams. I drove around without one for about a year and adding the Volvo airdam improved highway FE by about 10%. The Volvo part is about 1" taller and more durable than the original bmw part.

How wide is that Volvo air dam? It sounds like it could make a decent universal application...
