By theory you should cut out a piece ( appx 1 meter wide , the air dam works by redirecting the main air stream from the "unsmooth" undercarriage ) of the airdam in the middle and adding/deepen it in front of the wheels.
Their is a paper somewhere on this site about how they optimized the Opel Calibra.
