Diesel sneaking up

After the big fall in gas prices, diesel did fall under regular gas prices. During the gas crisis crest Diesel was higher than premium, it was almost like the auto manufacturers didn't want you to buy a diesel, VW TDI being the most available Diesel economy car. Now just last week I saw Diesel at middle grade gas prices, today while filling up, Diesel was 9 cents higher than premium.

As a member of the general public and without the utility of a crystal ball, could this be an indicator of a comming gas prices hike? Isn't it easier to make diesel than it is to make gasoline?

Winter is coming. Demand for the fraction of crude that is diesel is going up for heating oil #2 production.
