1988-1991 (not sure about

1988-1991 (not sure about other years) Honda Auto Trannies are known for sucking. DrDisco (on here, not active) is going to nos up his auto 1989 just to see how long to blow the tranny, they'll run like 150/200k, but they die eventually, unlike the manuals if they're taken care of.

239,XXX on my original auto tranny in my 90 DX - I'm going to drive the **** out of it until I can afford to put my HF transmission back together [It's splayed across my stainless table currently].

Thermostat Fixed the Problem

Well, today I installed at hotter thermostat (from an OEM 170F to 192F). It was clear that the old one was sticking open. Now, even with 20-30 degree weather, the guage goes up into normal operating temp and stays there. Better yet, the torque converter engages at its 2 points immediately when required. Hopefully, that will increase the gas mileage not only with the higher temp but the with the t/c dropping the RPMs. Thanks to all who helped with this diagnosis...
