Re: Read my spark plug...

So with all of this advancing, are you hearing any spark knock yet?

Many old Q-jets have a pair of holes on the pump lever for the accelerator pump rod so its pretty easy to switch holes to get more pump travel.

I'm not sure. When it's not severe it's hard to hear, doubly so with the windows open. The same weather that makes me likely to work on stuff also means I need the windows open...

After driving for a while this way(through your various attempts to find the best compensation for drivability), perhaps pull the spark plugs and see if any/which particular cylinder may have fouled plugs then at that time.

Re: Read my spark plug...

I decided to knock a couple things off my list today and went ahead with the CAI.

I also added coroplast in a couple really bad spots under the front end, but that's not really relevant to this thread...

Re: Read my spark plug...

I bet you thought this thread was dead!

Today I finally installed the new BWD Select rotor/cap/wires and Bosch Platinum plugs that I've had waiting. When I went to take off the #2 wire it nearly fell off the plug as if it has been broken this whole time (and the clip stayed with the plug, not with the wire).

It seemed to idle a little smoother but the most objective measurements I could make of power were unchanged. On a known hill in the same gear as always holding the same vacuum level as always, the result was the same speed.

It's going into the shop next week to finally get that leaky exhaust manifold fixed.

Re: Read my spark plug...

Hey, +1 on the revival. Nice update and I've had that happen on old plug wires before(while 500+ miles of town wouldnt you know it). Oh, and cool CAI, FTW!
