Using Universal 02 sensor?

i have been getting crappy gas mileage on my 97 geo prizm base (1.6L) and i just got 2 codes (p0130 and p0133) so its pretty much the 02 sensor thats turning bad.

its a 2 wire 02 sensor, would it be ok to solder the wires? i just dont want to throw the same codes again, and dont want to spend $120 for the sensor, when the universal one costs about 70.

I used some universal sensors on a '96 Contour. I didn't solder the wires I just used heat shrink butt connectors and haven't had any problems with them. Check eBay for the sensors. I Was looking the other day and some people were selling 4 wire sensors for $20. each. I don't know whether they had any 2 wire sensors or not, but if they do it will save you a good bid of money.

Here's a two wire on ebay with a starting bid of $1.99.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/unive...Q5fAccessories

Or here is one buy it now for $16.41 US, but it would have to come from Austrailia.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...%3DI%26otn%3D2

Here's another buy it now at $16.01 US.
