rpm and highway speed in a CRX HF

Hi all,
I just have finished up redoing a 1990 CRX HF including putting in a new transmission. This was a rebuild and I specified that it had to be the HF gearing.
However now that I am up and running it seems as if it is geared high and I do not get the gas mileage I wanted.
I am running 174/65/14 tires which are a hair bigger than stock but not much.
In 5th gear at 60 mph the tach reads close to 3000rpm.
So anyone out there with a HF who can tell me what they get in the various gears.
That way i can tell if I have got the HF gear ratios I wanted or if the rebuilder used the non-HF gears.
Any help would be appreciated.

You might have the same gears as this guy:

I seriously doubt your gears are too high. 3000rpm is far too much for 60mph, you should probably get higher gears so your rpm will be lower.

I bet you have Si transmission gears and/or final drive- I put an HF trans in my 87 civic and it runs about 2K rpms at 60mph. The original DX transmission ran about 2600 rpms at 60 mph.

Good info guys. I think I got the high/low gear thing backwards. Bottom line it seems that the rpm should be lower for a given speed.
So guess I am back to the rebuilder to see what they put in it or if they admit to anything there. Anyone got leads on a used genuine HF trans?
Thanks
