replaced 3 parts now lost 4 mpgs?

Hello,
I have a stock Crx hf with 227K. I replaced the spark plug wires because one was in bad shape. I also replaced the dist. cap and rotor. Car was running a little rough but much better now. Only problem is I was getting 48 mpg now it's down to 44 mpg? Any ideas?
Thanks!

How many tanks have you ran through it since the repairs? I don't think one tank is enough to know that your mileage has decreased- you may have just filled it up a bit more than usual.

Re: replaced 3 parts now lost 4 mpgs?

Just 1 tank full since the repairs. I'm pretty careful with the fill ups and the mpg math but who knows? 100 miles into my second tank now. This one seems much better. I went to a different gas station this time. Oh and I did check tire pressure. Front drivers side was about 32 lbs. I try to keep them at 44-46 so that would have made a little difference I suppose...

Yup that drop in tire pressure would kill mileage for sure. I see a drop of 10% or more with a rear tire low and how it rolls when coasting.

yea it would, also some of those ignition parts have to break in so to speak, sometimes they put a coating on the contacts on caps and rotors so they dont corrode on the shelf

just disable it, if its got a single vacuum hose just take it off and jam a golf tee or small bolt in the vacuum line.

or do what i found on my chevette, put a BB gun BB in it then put the line back on haha

??? Why recommend polluting, when a legal and ethical fix is both cheap and easy?

On some vehicles, EGR is an important part of fuel economy, allowing the computer to advance ignition and such. Fixing it may pay off.
