But I have another question--looks like our car needs ball joints--any sources or substitutions for them?
I would contact mike o'connor at http://www.honda600shop.com/ for any parts. There are also a few guys on the west coast if that is where you are that can help you.

Some guy on the lists found that 1993 Hyundai Elantra tie rod ends are VERY similar in size/shape and might be able to work, if those are the ball joints you're talking about.

Nope, I need the lower arm ball joints, not the tie rod ends.

Found a couple of pics of the N600 and the Metro and Civic VX

We were touching up some paint on the N600, that's why there is paper on the window.

sorry, I actually had to end up selling it in order to pay off some debt recently. I do plan on buying one eventually again... it will just have to wait a while.

I have once owned an N600. It was a very practical small car but may not meet today's emission laws in some places.
Reading this thread makes me feel wanting to drive one again.

Help a Capable Novice Drive an N600

Hey guys,

I am in Dallas, TX. I have a couple of Honda N600 that I purchased a couple of years back (not running) and I will start rebuilding this year. I will be driving one of these cars and the other one will be given to my Mom.

I am not an expert at car mechanics, except for normal maintenance, alternator and starter change. I also helped a friend rebuilding a transmission and engine for a 60's Mustang.

My questions are:
Do you have any recommendations on where to start?
What is the optimal sequence of events to ease frustration and pain?
What must have tools do you recommend?
Part substitutions / easy enhancements which will be a good time to install?

I will document and post the progress to help others. I appreciate your input and hopefully will see you soon @ car shows
