manifold leak
well, I think I figured out why my MPGs dropped suddenly: while working on something else, I noticed a bit of air blowing out of the heat shield around the exhaust manifold. warm exhaust-smelling air. That means that some exhaust gasses aren't hitting the O2 sensor and some fresh air may be pulled in between pressure pulses. this probably happened when I welded up the gap between the stock pipe and the smaller pipe to the rest of the system (supposed to be temporary...). the added backpressure may have blown out an already rusty joint on the crappy sheet-metal manifold. I guess it's time to pull out the welder again as well as putting on a larger pipe later in the system.
Just thought I'd rant a bit. kinda ticks me off. I can get this mileage out of the cressida even with the wrong trans it's got. the problem is the ground clearance and it's winter
