Does it spec a GL-4 lube? Just curious because some import transmission have brass parts which will corrode using a GL-5. Anyway I'm running mobil1 syn currently. I've used redline mtl in place of 75-90 gear oil in the past. I also ran redline shockproof heavy in an SER.

I'm not sure actually... I was just hoping a few people would just say X or Y.

I think the viscosity is in the range of regular motor oil for the manual.

I was wondering this too -- I wasn't aware that honda even used a rotating balance shaft

Perhaps not the same engine as in the Accord... But the belt in question is the smaller one on the bottom portion that connects from the crank to the two smaller outer toothed pulleys.


I'm willing to bet that T-belt kits come with that belt and that little extension spring for the tensioner

Maybe the balancer belt doesn't get replaced normally? Maybe the only downside to a belt failure there is a bit more pronounced secondary vibration?

I would guess it does no real harm if it fails.

ah, that is a prelude motor. the d series and b series engines do not have that.

i am unsure if the f series (accord motors) have it.

she has a very nice setup! but she even said that most people that put a b series transmission on an h or f series motor tend to remove the balancing shaft... interesting.

I just did the major service on my wifes 05 Accord AT.

Oil and Filter.
Transmission oil and filter.
Fuel Filter.
Drain and fill coolant system. Drain and clean over flow tank and refill.
Rotate tires.
Full brake inspection with quick bleed.
Checked and lubed all hinges and sun roof.
Full under car inspection.
Changed cabin air filter.
Changed Air Filter.
Inspected operation of lighting system and brake lights.

Went thru it front rear. Its good to go.

When I did the Tchain on my nissan pickup. I replaced with all new guides, tensioner, and gears etc. However when I went to install the $40 "lifetime gold" water pump I noticed it was completely inferior design. Noting that the old oem pump was still doing fine at 145k I reinstalled it. I sold the truck at 170k.

The bottom line is only use OEM parts. I would let it go till the 120k service, personally. Or let your mechanic decide for you, after all he must stake his reputation on the decision. But insist on an OEM pump and parts.
