I believe they were embedded in the layers of glass. Were they available as a glue-on aftermarket item?
I've found that I can raise the antenna a very short distance without compromising reception. Regarding aerodynamics, removing the external antenna may be the ideal but a smaller one's heading in the right direction without the work.

Yes, I know they were available aftermarket, I think it was like a decal or tape. You pull the backing off and just stick it to the glass.

I've seen the glass mount kits before too. I could swear that JC Whitney used to carry them, and the antenna was a decal that was affixed to the perimeter of the glass. I don't see anything like that on their site now though.

Like I said... I can find other styles too (mount behind radio in the dash or even on top of the dash) but cannot find any other information really about them from someone with personal experience... Wierd huh? lol
