92 Civic VX 5 wire Oxygen sensor question

Hey guys great stuff hear. I found you looking to fix a problem with my VX.

The other day I got the CEL code 41. I noticed at the same time that The engine shift light stopped working, there seems to be more power all the time, the idle speed is over 1000 RPM and after filling the tank I went from averaging 47 MPG to 35 MPG but expect it to be less this time.

I found that the code points to the O2 sensor but almost fell out of my chair when I saw the price of over $400. I did find one on ebay for $190 + $7 shipping. Still a lot when you are cheap.

I guess what I am asking is does this sound like the problem or could it be the ECU. I have seen where some said use a DVM to test voltage on D this or D that but I have no idea where those are. I can work with colored wires better.

Great site. I was looking for a small car when I got my VX and had no idea what I had bought. Love the car.
