88 CRX HF tranny swap questions....

So many questions..........

Will I be able to use the starter on my automatic 88 CRX on the HF tranny or will I need a new one?

What mounts will I have to get? I got a guy who has the tranny and the 3 mounts that go with it, do I need all three?

I used the starter from my AT on my swap. Mine was a 91 HF tranny going into a 90 Civic.

I purchased mounts from a guy on HT - I bought all his mounts from his 5-speed EF Civic. I know you for sure need the rear mount and bracket and the front mount. I think you also need the tranny top mount.

I t hink you need all of them if I remember correctly.

Hopefully SVOBoy or Budomove can chime in.

He sent me some pictures of the tranny.....what do you guys think?

I know almost jack about trannys, to me they are kind of a "magical box"

This one is a little bit blurry <p>

It's dirty, but nothing is screaming at me from the pictures.

when I bought mine, it was filthy too. A can of breakclen fixed that though.

Looks like your tranny comes with the side mount.

The guy I am buying it from seems to be a really nice guy. He is kind of going out of his way a bit to get it to me, but at the same time he also wants it gone.

He also said he will look around for the other mounts, he says that he might have them kicking around somewhere.

I'm psyched!

you can spend your money on a few cans of brake cleaner, or you can take it to the self service car wash, put enough money in for unlimited time, then wash your entire car, and the tranny at the same time, just make sure you have plugs in the axle holes.
on both trannys I replaced, I replaced the drive shaft seals as well, they are cheap and easy while it's sitting there in front of you.

I was kinda leaning towards just leaving the tranny as is as far as cleaning it.

Drive shaft seals sound like a good idea though Ryland.

Anyone else got any other suggestions of good things to do for "peace of mind" while I will have it out and easily accessible?
