Aug 16 2017

Certified at 6:00am. 4 oz of PS Silver (Diesel Klean + Cetane Boost). The previous tank was the first time I have used this (8 oz dose), and since I didn't notice the stammering symptoms as commonly, this product might have cleaned some injector fouling, and the 46 mpg on the tank is higher than I expected for routine needs driving.

Certified. Added 8 ounces of PS Diesel Clean and Cetane Boost (this is the first time I have used this formula, and 8 ounces is nearly a double dose). First use of an additive since adding some PSW 8 months ago in November, and before that I had not used any additives going all the way back to regular use during April of 2016.

Citgo PS Food Mart, 655 Tecumseh St., Dundee, MI. No additives. Engine ran a little rough on a couple of occasions using the fuel purchased near Seney in route to Marquette, but this 50 MPG still included all of the driving we did around the mid-U.P. No Ivan, but we are still loaded with weight (bicycles too).

Certified. No additives. Very warm winter until this week. I have noticed more high idling occasions. Also noticed a wheel or axle or tire sound when making slow left turns. Engine is a little rough sometimes when cold, and I noticed a lot of white looking exhaust in the rear-view mirror during one aggressive throttling event. Still, I think the car is operating the way the engineers intended for it to

Aug 29 2016

Certified. No additives. I think this is the lowest I have ever drawn down the tank. Half of the driving during this past tank was Pennsylvania turnpike after filling up about 40 miles west of Philidelphia. The MPI showed that I could travel 20 more miles, but this draw down enough and I think this is the most miles I have ever clocked on a tank of fuel. Umbrella and pothole, and the car will go to the shop in a couple of days for what I think is a broken wheelbearing. RUG today is a dime less.

PA Turnpike Sunoco just west of Philly. Had a lot of traffic for about an hour in Philly all the way to the Atlantic City toll road, then did a good bit of traffic light driving in Wildwood, then very bad traffic impact again from Cape May peninsula through NJ swamps until almost Camden, then in Philly again (even though it was a Saturday). Car is loaded and heavy, and AC running as temps have been mid-90's on the Northeast coast all week.

Flying J Smithton PA. Left the house with just under half a tank remaining from work commutes and some wasteful downtown driving looking for someone's parked car. Station attendant doesn't think PA includes any bio-diesel in their fuel anymore. Car loaded with 3 people and bicycles, and AC on as the second half of this tank took us to western PA.

Jul 5 2016

Certified. No additives. Diesel is $0.50/gal more than RUG. This tanks MPI read 44.9 mpg. I had to subtract a gallon from the actual fill up to adjust for the Travel Centers of America fill up that didn't really fill the tank, so I added a gallon to that T/A fill up.

Day-trip to western-PA. Wrong turn and lost in Pittsburgh, lots of traffic and an hour of looking for parking at Oakmont. This fill-up combines 2 gallons added at Sheetz station with 11.8 more gallons later at Travel Centers of America, but the total 13.8 gallon tally was still one gallon short of really filling the car because of the stupid pre-pay arrangements at Travel Centers of America, so my fuel entry of gallons above is falsified as I have added one more gallon than actual to the fill up to create a more accurate account. Kept RPM's in the power-band while climbing Alleghenies.

Certified. No additives for the first time in a few months. Thought I noticed the engine running rough more often, more regens too, and one especially persistent regen event. Trying to drive for efficiency, less student driving, but frequent short trips to fish. RUG is $0.20 more than diesel today.
