The battery and electric motor are much more efficient in hot weather. The Hybrid system (overall) works entirely better in 75+ degrees weather. Electric efficiency drops drastically when temps are below freezing. Overall averaging better than EPA noted for this car.

MPG declining rapidly....not entirely sure why. Cold weather causing the engine to run more than usual and its due for first service. (Oil & air filter change) Maybe the air filter is saturated.

More highway once again. (less discharge / charging cycles) Good news is, fuel prices continue to decline.

Continued regular commuting. A/C on a lot. A bit surprised in the slight bump in MPG. (I was expecting a slight dip)

Hanging in there with 46 MPG doing regular commuting. Perhaps when the engine breaks in and after my first oil and air filter change, I can break the magic 50 miles per gallon. Reading tips on this site about bumping tire air pressure, etc. Haven’t tried any of them yet. Also, I got a couple emails from people asking me if I am doing anything those crazy hyper-milers do. The answer is NO, absolutely not. I drive with the flow of traffic. I am lite on the throttle and I try to maximize the electric motor. That is key, in my opinion.

back to regular commuting. MPG is back up. I would like to see 50+ mpg one day but I doubt it; in this "hurry up and wait" world we live in.
