A 312.4 mile trip from Buttonwillow CA to Vegas via the 58 and I-15. Early morning drive with one stop in Baker to snack. Detour in Bakersfield, cool temps, huge elevation changes, slow up hill fast down hill. Massive amounts of Semi trucks all night long on 58 and I-15. No traffic. The final fill up and end of a 1004 mile 24 hour road trip.

A 265.4 mile trip from Bakersfield to Paso Robles, to Cayucos on the PCH, and back to Bakersfield via Old Creek rd, CA 46, Lost Hills CA33 to Buttonwillow to refuel. The third fill up of a 1004 24 hour road trip. Cool temps, huge elevation changes. Slow going up, fast going down. Maintained speed limits and RPMs between 1800 and 2400. All night drive, no traffic.

A 327 mile trip from Pahrump to Death Valley, to Darwin on the 190, and Olancha on the 395 then to Bakersfield to refuel. Second part of a 1004 mile 24hour road trip. Huge elevation changes, steep hills, long down hill from Darwin to Bakersfield on the 395. Warm temps, AC used from Darwin.

1st fill up of a 1004 mile road trip to Pahrump and the PCH. Includes a 35mile trip to Nellis AFB. All freeway, AC used for about 50 miles. NV160 over the hump to Pahrump, high elevation drive.

A 328.1 mile trip from Cameron AZ to Flagstaff on the 89, and Williams on I-40. Then to Crookton on Route 66 to Seligman, Hackberry, and Kingman on Route 66. Then to Vegas on the 93, and some fiasco on what they call I-11 that does not connect to the 215 which is now called the 515??? Anyway, heavy traffic in Flagstaff for 45min. 1100'+ climb from Cameron to Flagstaff on the 89, and mostly down hill from there on the I-40 to Route 66. Kept speeds below speed limits. Slow going up , and faster going down. AC used from Cameron to Kinman, temps in the mid 80s. Some rain in Flagstaff.

A 349.8 mile drive from Laverkin UT on the 9 through Zion National Park, to Bryce Canyon via the 89, 12, & 63. Then to Kanab, Fredonia on the 89, to Vermilion Cliffs & Marble Canyon on the 89a, and finally Cameron AZ on the 89. A lot of big steep elevation changes (3800' to 8500'), mostly down hill. Slow going up, faster going down. AC used from Kanab to Cameron, temps in the 80s and 90s. Kept speed below limits. About 6+ miles off road at Vermillion Cliffs.

A 145.0 mile drive from Vegas to Laverkin UT to start a road trip. Drive started at 12:45 AM with some re-routing in Vegas on the I-15 North to Utah. Cool temps in the 80s to 70s in Utah. Slight tail wind, no AC, no cruse control, no speeding. Kept RPMs around 2000. Conservative driving. Car sat for 11 days prior to this trip.

A 418.5 mile trip from Pipe Springs, via Grand Canyon North Rim, Vermilion Cliff, Kanab, Hurricane, and Vegas. Big elevation changes 4500' climb to 6500' to 8900' on hwy 67 between Jacob Lake and North Rim. Descend back to 4500' on 89a, with 30 miles off road at Vermilion Cliff on House Rock Road from 89-Alt to 89 (washboard and hard mud trails). Maintained speed limits to Kanab, Fredonia, Apple Valley, and Hurricane. Below speed limits on I-15 to Vegas. AC used from Kanab to Vegas.

A 153.8 mile start of a road trip from Vegas to Apple Valley. All freeway from Vegas on the I-15 to Hurricane UT and Apple Valley. Driving below the speed limits on I-15, and maintained speed limits in the city areas. Slight tail wind the entire way. No AC, cool temps high 70s.

A 308.1 mile 6 hour drive from Hawthorne to Vegas. via Beatty on the US 95. Mostly down hill, some big elevation changes around Tonopah to Goldfield. Midnight drive, cool temps in the 70s, conservative driving. Two stops for rest along the 95. No traffic, no cruse control.

A 285.8 mile trip from Beatty to Dyer to Benton, up Montgomery Pass, and Mono Basin area. Huge elevation changes. 16 miles of off road on soft sand trails and washboard gravel roads. Temps in the 70s, no AC or curse control, conservative driving. Night drive from Mono Lake to Hawthorne. No traffic, conservative driving, slow uphills, fast down hills.

A 314.3 mile midnight drive from Buttonwillow to Vegas via the 58 and I-15. No traffic, with stops for photography along the 58 and in Barstow. AC used, temps in the 80s. Conservative driving. A lot of flat areas as well as big steep elevation changes from 600ft to 4800ft. Followed semi trucks 65 mph on the freeways and interstate.

A 306.3 mile road trip from Arvin to Morro Bay via the 46 and 41. And on to the PCH San Simeon. Returning on the PCH via the same route to Paso Robles, Lost hills and fueling in Buttonwillow. No traffic, AC used in the day, and from Paso Robles to Buttonwillow at night. No off road.

A 359 mile trip from Vegas To Arvin CA, plus a trip to Dealership and DMV earlier in the month (Car sat unused for 18 days). Early morning drive starting at 4AM desert heat, conservative driving. I-15 to Barstow, and the 58 to Arvin. AC used all the way except up Mountain Pass, and Halloran Summit. Cruse control used on CA58 from Boron to Mojave.

A 314.2 mile trip from Buttonwillow CA to Vegas via Bakersfield on the 58 to Barstow. And to Vegas on the I-15. Midnight drive, no traffic, few semis, conservative driving. Wind calm, temps in the 90s, all the way AC used except up Halloran Summit and Mountain Pass. One stop on the I-15 rest area during the drive from Buttonwillow to Vegas. This is the end of a 25.5 hour road trip that covered 1051.2 miles.

A 459.0 mile trip from Arvin CA to Buttonwillow via the 223, I-5, Lost Hills and 46 to the PCH at Cambria. Then on to Ragged Point and Monterey along the PCH, then from Salinas to Paso Robles on the 101. And on to Buttonwillow on the 46, 33, and 58. Cool temperatures from Cambria, AC used all the way. Temps increased along the 101. Maintained speed limits. Slow driving along PCH 15 to 40mph winding roads, steep elevation changes 30to 670 ft. Strong tail wind on the 101. Mid 90s by midnight at Buttonwillow.

A 278.2 mile start of a road trip from Vegas to Arvin CA via the I-15 and CA58. Started at 3 AM, warm conditions 90s, AC used the entire way. Conservative driving, a lot of elevation changes 2 to 3K ft. And a lot of flat areas. No traffic, mild winds.

First drive in 16 days. A 124.1 mile day trip to Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. Started early in the morning when temps were in the 90s. Steep elevation changes from 2800 ft to 8400+ ft. Steep winding roads up on the mountain, No traffic, mountain temps in the 70s and 80s. AC used after sunset 109 degrees in Vegas at night. Some slow driving up on the mountain 25 to 40 mph.

A 277.2 mile trip from Arvin Ca to Vegas via the 223, 58, and I-15 from Barstow. A lot of big elevation changes from 600 to 4800ft. Using 4th gear at times 2800rpm. 5th gear at 2500rpm to climb. Slow going up, faster going down. AC used from Kramer Junction area to Vegas. Temps in the high 80s to 91 in Baker. Conservative driving, early morning, no traffic.

A 200.8 mile trip from Atascadero to Arvin. With stops along the PCH from Morro Rock to San Simeon via the 41, Hwy 1, 46, 101, 46, 33, Lokern to 58, the I-5, and the 223 to Arvin. Speed limits maintained, varying elevation changes -0 to 3800ft. Cool temps 70s, no AC used, no cruse control, conservative driving. Using 4th gear to climb some roads at 2800RPM. No traffic.

A 406.7 mile trip from Vegas to Atascadero via I-15, to 58, 223, 33, 58, and 101. Speed limits maintained, early morning drive, no cruse control. AC used from Primm NV to Atascadero. Tems from 89 in Primm to 80s in Atascadero. Many steep and winding roads along 58, and big elevation changes on I-15. This was the start of the road trip to PCH. The Crosstrek sat unused for 2 weeks prior to this trip. Tire pressure checked cold 85 degrees 36psi.

A 231.4 mile trip starting at 3PM from Peablossom to Vegas via Victorville, Barstow, and Baker via the 138,18, and I-15. With a side trip on the 395, Air Expressway, and (North D st in Victorville [heavy traffic]). AC used the entire way, temps in Pearblossom 104 and 105 in Victorville, to 110 in Barstow, and topping 114 in Baker, and cooling off to 109 by sundown at Primm. No speeding, except for keeping up with traffic going down hills. Road surface temperatures were very hot, likely to cause tire pressure to be very high. Going uphill behind semi trucks (60-65mph), keeping RPMs below 2500 going up hill in 5th, and about 2000 downhill in 6th. And neutral going down Mountain Pass.

A 421.7 mile road trip from Vegas to Ventura CA, and fuel up on the way back in Pearblossom CA. Early morning drive starting at 1AM using AC from Vegas to Barstow via I-15, and to Old 58 (route 66), Helendale to 395 to,18, 138, and 14 to Santa Clarita. No AC used climbing Mountain Pass (I-15), and from Santa Clarita on 126 to Ventura. Same route back fueling up in Pearblossom by 3PM. About 10min of traffic on the 14 going. Conservative driving, kept speed limits all the way. Many big elevation changes along the way. Going slower up hill, and faster down hill. Keeping RPMs at 2500 up hill in 5th, and 2000-2300 going down hill in 6th. No cruse control used.

A 455.8 mile return trip from Pismo Beach to Cayucos Beach. A night drive back to Vegas starting at the Old Canyon Road at Cayucos to 46 to 101. And on to the 58 at Santa Margarita to Mckittrick to Bakersfield. Then, to Tehachapi via backcountry roads at Alta Wind Farms to Mojave Air & Space Port. Then back on the 58 to Barstow and I-15 to Vegas. Heavy traffic on the 101 from Pismo Beach to San Luis Obispo. No night traffic from Cayucos to Vegas. Took the inland mountain roads to avoid LA traffic. No off road. Steep mountain roads big elevation changes. A lot of rest stops along the way. Speeds from 30 to 65mph no speeding, no off road, no AC, conservative driving.

This is the 1st drive since last fill up 10 days prior. Heavy traffic on the 101 from Ventura to Pismo Beach. AC used from Victorville, no off road, no cruse control, conservative driving. A lot of steep elevation changes inland California.

A 416.1 mile trip from South LA to Oxnard and Ventura via the 5, 18 and 101. Then returning to Vegas at night via the 126, 5 to Santa Calrita to the 14 and Pearblossom hwy to avoid Cajon Pass. Then from Victorville to Barstow and Vegas on the I-15. No traffic, no speeding, cool temps in the 60s in CA, and 90s at Barstow to Vegas. AC used except the night drive from Ventura to Victorville. No cruse control, no speeding, conservative driving. A lot of big elevation changes. Freeway speeds 45 to 65mph. Some traffic in LA, but not stop and go. Steady moving at 20+ MPH.

346.2 mile trip from Pahrump to Vegas to South LA via the 160 to Vegas, I-15 to 91 to 60 to East LA and side streets to the South Park area. AC used from Prim NV to LA. Temps in the 80s and 90s in the Mojave and LA. No traffic, some stop and go through various side streets of LA. No off road. Car sat for 10 days since last road trip.

A 224.2 mile final leg of my CA roadtrip. From Independence CA to Pahrump via the 395 to Lone Pine, then 136 to the 190 and Bell Vista rd to Pahrump. With a 42 mile side trip on Emigrant Canyon rd in Death Valley to the Wildrose Campground for dinner and the sunset/twilight drive back. A 18 mile 5000+ ft climb on the 190 up Towne Pass. And several other 2000 ft ascend/descend at Travetine Point, as well as short steep winding areas along Emigrant Canyon rd. Again, same technique: Slow up hills, faster downhills, keeping RPMs at 2K on level ground in 5th and 6th gear (CVT), RPMs under 2500 in 4th gear up steep hills, and RPMs under 2800 in 3rd gear on very steep hills. No cruse control used, AC was used this entire trip: temps in the 80s along the 395 and parts of the 190, and up to 100 in lower areas of Death Valley at night, and 80s and 90s in the mountains.
