Took truck to Grisham Transmission after DC Tire & Oil recommended them to fix the thumping coming from passenger CV axle. they worked with my warranty company and did the repair for $1,061. Warranty would only cover ~$860. So I paid for difference. They basically had to do a front differential service as part of this bc taking the shaft and seal out required draining the fluid out.

transmission service - I think they just replaced the transmission fluid and left the filter. I called Ford Service and it was $395 after tax for this same service and guy said they just clean the filter, they don’t replace it

I was getting a check engine light for a long time about misfire after I changed the spark plugs in the Spring. I tried to remove it with OBD tool and it kept coming back. It randomly has gone away this past week and stayed off.

checked oil level, barely some on tip. added 4 qts of mobil1 5w20 high mileage and that got level to lower hole

checked oil, it was barely on tip. added 3 qts mobil one 5w20. level got to just below lower hole.

I changed the oil myself. before I drained it, the dip stick had some 1/4 up the tip. Used 5w20 Mobil one high mileage and a mobile 1 M1-212A 20k mile oil filter. I hand tightened the filter then did another 1/2 to full turn with the wrench until wouldn’t turn anymore pressing on handle with 2 fingers. Added 9 qts of oil and it just above 2nd hole.

*update 5/25 - i called dealer and realized I don’t have the eco boost engine (though Chris does); I have the 5.0 V8 Coyote; So i went back to Ford and bought the correct plugs and changed the 6 easy ones; the back 2 on passenger side were harder and I didn’t have time so did them a few days later on 5/30 at 102,906 miles; engine is running much smoother; coil packs all looked good Got code P0306 on monday which is a misfire of cylinder 6. spark plugs are supposed to be changed every 60k miles but may last longer. bought 6 spark plugs at dealership (motorcraft SP-594). the parts guy said to change the plugs and then if i’m still getting an error to change to coils which are $115 a piece. installed the plugs myself. It’s strange bc there is another coil toward the back of the engine in the passenger side and i’m not sure what it dues.

I started getting the thumping sound from the front in the last cpl days. When it was doing it in late Dec - Jan it seemed to finally stop when I topped truck up with oil. Let’s see if thumping stops again now that oil is topped off. added 3 qts of pennzoil full synthetic 5w20 and it got to just below upper hole

time for oil change and dip stick was dry. last filter was put on at 77,100 mi or 19k miles ago and last full oil replace was at 86k. should’ve kept it on safe side of that and done it at 15k mi. I changed the oil myself. Used 5w20 Mobil one high mileage and a mobile 1 M1-212A 20k mile oil filter. got 4 BFGoodrich KO2 A/T put on (275/55 R20). free alignment with new tire install. he said alignment was not bad at all but they trued it up even better. used synchrony promotional credit card and got $100 off (original total $1546)

finally checked oil level. it was not on dipstick. added 3.5 qts of 5w20 and it got to half way between the 2 holes

checked engine oil for first time since oil change at 85,800 mi. it was barely on tip of dipstick, probably 1/4”. added 2.5 qt of mobil 1 high mileage 5w20 and got it to full

changed oil with 8.5 qts of mobil1 high mileage 5w20. oil filter is 20k mi filter so don’t need to change for another 10k miles.

had a screw in my driver side rear tire. Bill plugged it for $12. already had a plug in the same tire. he thought i had about 40% tread left

Bought some more high mileage 5w20 MobilOne yesterday and added 2 more qts today. It got the level up to just below the lower hole on dip stick.

Checked oil level after work trip. It was first time I’ve checked it since I changed it in December. I turned truck on for 8-10 min then shut it off for 8-10 min. There was barely oil on the stick. I’ll add 1.5 qt which is all I have available. Barely any oil on dip stick after 1.5 qts. Will add another 1-2 qts later

I changed the oil. Used 5w20 Mobil one high mileage and a K&N SO2011 20k mile oil filter. Great video saved in my YouTube car maintenance folder. I torqued filter to 2 fingers pushing on filter wrench to where it would budge anymore. Online references say 6 qts but beaman used 8-9 the last 2 times. I added 6 and checked level and it was barely on tip of stick. I ended up adding 8.5 and it almost got to upper hole which is perfect. Oil color is clear and clean vs the dark brown just before.

Checked oil and it was really low, not even on the stick. Added 1.5 qts and it got about 1/2 inch up dip stick

Checked oil level and it was low, about halfway between tip and bottom hole. Added 1.5 qts of Mobil 1 5W20 and it got up to almost the top hole

It was a little low so Added 2 qts. After checking the level a few times it was a tad too much so I drained about 1/2 qt out of the bottom using the drain plug and appeared to get it down to right below the upper circle

Took it in for oil change and forgot to ask for full synthetic. They put 8 qts of blended synthetic 5w-20 oil. But some sources say 6 qts online (maybe that’s without replacing filter). They did the works pkg and rotated tires. The service rep mentioned an issue ford is seeing with swelling lug nuts on difference models and they recommended looking into it. I guess it would cause socket not to fit and have to go up a size.
